THE MIND

On this page I will wonder about the more filosophical and spiritual things.

Taking it slowly...

So one thing I learned during this week is not to be too hard on yourself. You can't do everything. Well you can die trying, but to be realistic: Taking care of your relationship, working well, keeping the home tolerably clean, working out, watching what you eat, keeping up with friends and family and trying to do your thesis might result slowly into a stress that makes you unable to do anything. So forgiving myself for not being able to do everything is something that I started to realize but I still have a loads of guilt to loose.

Why does it sometimes take so long to learn from your mistakes?

I mean just a very simple example. When do I actually realize that eating sugar is not good for me? Because honestly I know it doesn't go well with my diet and what is even worse it makes me feel like shit. And if I don't eat sugar I fell physically and emotionally better. So why do I still keep going for snacks with sugar?

That's just one example. I mean there are a lot of mistakes that you do and you would think that a normal person would, after making a mistake, realize what they did and then never repeat that mistake again. Yeah that's what you would think. BS. Sometimes it even takes me 10 times to realize about my stupidities. It makes me furious and sometimes even depressed. I hate when I can't develop, when I can't learn and I hate it even more when it is my fault. Sometimes it is because I honestly don't realize what I did wrong but most of the time it is also because I am too lazy and too hedonistic to learn and change.

I will take that as a project of this week in the Mind Section. I will try to learn from my mistakes immediately this week. I could for example try to understand that eating sugar makes me feel bad. I could also realize that if smoking makes me dizzy and my arm goes numb IT IS NOT GOOD FOR ME! I could also realize that the thesis won't get done by itself. I have to concentrate on it. But this is not about my goals. The point is to realize about my mistakes this week. No matter what they are.
